AGS Annual ConferenceNew officers and a new way forward

The Alliance for Green Socialism had a well attended Annual conference on Saturday
15th March in Grays Inn Road, London WC1. Highlights of the meeting were the address given by Professor Gregor Gall researcher, writer & journalist and member of the Scottish Socialist Party, regarding “Do the Trade Unions have a political future or any future?”
Rachel Newton was a guest speaker from Shelter the homeless charities workforce who is in dispute with their managment over its efforts to downgrade their pay, conditions and jobs. The meeting held a collection for the dispute fund, and looked at ways that it could help around the country
The AGM passed motions on Left Unity, Secularism, The Economic Crisis, Capitalism & Environment, Airport Expansion, Banning Car Adverts, UK Planning, Bio- Diesel& Agricultural Land, and Eco-Catastrophes.
The Chairs report pointed out the organisation and finances were stable and Green Socialist the AGS’s journal had been considerably improved over the last two years.
The AGS is involved in the local elections due in May as far apart as Conway and Leeds.
A new National Committee of 16 members were elected. The officers being
